While we're on the subject of recruiting, here's a new startup called Vizualize.me and they've just changed the way we'll look at resumes from today onward. The World Changing snagged a preview invite and we were immediately amazed with what we found. Visualize.me's brand new app allows you to connect to your LinkedIn profile and then automatically creates an amazing infographic which presents your qualifications in a innovative new way. You can customize and tweak your information after it's ported over from Linked-in and there are a variety of infographic themes you can apply to give your Vizualize.Me Resume just the right look for your taste.
In a Co.Design interview with the Vizualze.me founder, Eugene Woo attributed the inspiration for the groundbreaking new face of resumes to the viral spread of Chris Spurlock's resume. Spurlock was a journalism student who used an Infographic version of his resume to successfully land himself a job at the Huffington Post (@huffpost).
Most of us here at The World Changing have been hiring managers since before the Internet bubble was bubbly. And together we've looked at a lot of resumes. Resumes for professionals can be three or more pages long these days. Reading that much text takes more time then most of us have - or at least more than we are willing invest on someone we haven't even met. After a while, we'll be honest, everyone's resumes sort of all look the same. To quote Jason Fried of 37signals, "Resumés reduce people to bullet points."
Vizualize.me thinks everyone would look a heck of a lot better as infographics. We think we agree. Check out Dan Chuparkoff's Vizualize.me Resume.
