Over the next two weeks, some of the most creative, innovative, revolutionary ideas of the Changing World, will be uncovered and shared at South by Southwest in Austin, TX. So before we get that rolling, first let's make sure everyone reading this knows what it is.
This year will mark the 25th edition of an event (affectionately known as SXSW) that draws more than 30,000 innovative professionals from around the world to Austin each March. Born in a time before the web, email, or smart phones, SXSW history bridges the analog and digital eras.
SXSW is actually a convergence of three simultaneous conferences:
- SXSW Film,
- SXSW Music,
- & SXSW Interactive.
The products of these three separate industries have an incredible cultural impact on our lives. All three contain a mix of independent players who compete along side of huge & established corporations. Bringing the professionals from these three industries together causes sparks of innovation and creativity to jump across from each to the other two. It's like taking the ideas of Bono, Steven Spielberg, and Steve Jobs and putting them in a blender to see what you could make when you mix them together.
That's SXSW!
